Steel water pipes are galvanized for corrosion resistance and also to reduce leaching into the water from the steel of the pipe. Galvanized pipe should never be used for natural gas, only black steel should be used for that. If you connect black steel to galvanized steel, you will get more corrosion in the pipe because of galvanic action. This also happens when any two dissimilar metals are directly joined while containing water. Plumbing systems ideally should be one type of metal only if metal is used. https://thettayilgroup.com/products/
