Gastroparesis is a condition in which the stomach is paralysed or gastric emptying is delayed. Constant contractions of the stomach muscles serve to push food into the digestive system. Gastroparesis occurs when the stomach muscles do not function properly, preventing the stomach from adequately emptying food.
