It may be difficult for the parent to teach the child to cope with dental visits although many children will outgrow the problem as they mature. Dental phobia or anxiety is quite common among children just as it is in adults and it is believed that approximately 20% of all children fear visiting the dentist even for a well-baby visit. Therefore the onus of making the child comfortable will rest on the parent’s shoulders must make all efforts possible to help the child overcome anxiety.
