This shoe provides a great balance between an athletic feel (after long wear), encouraging fast climbing, with the stability and traction needed for rocky scrambles. The lug depth, pattern, and stiffness of the Stealth rubber outsole provide excellent traction on clay and dirt hard, but still gives an impression on the rocks. The Vibram Megagrip outsole performed quite well in all trail conditions outside of mud and gripped dry rock well. Verto III has the widest forefoot, making the edges unclear even when using tight laces, but also provides all-day comfort, especially with swollen feet from climbing shoes.
