The technology has dramatically evolved since the first hydrocarbon pipeline system was introduced in China in 500 BC. After that, the first oil pipeline was built around 1862 in US Pennsylvania. Since then oil and gas pipelines are constructed incorporating different kinds of material depending on the size, type of work, and environmental requirements with regard to the application.
