Sunflower seeds are typically categorized for business purposes according to the pattern found on their husks. The seeds are black oil sunflower seeds when the husk is completely black. In some circles, these crops are oilseed sunflower crops--the process of pressing extracts the oil from these seeds. People use them as a snack; striped sunflower seeds are sometimes called candy sunflower seeds.
