Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product made by gluing together hardwood and softwood fibers using a combo of wax and resin adhesive. This mix of fiber and adhesive is then put under high amounts of pressure and compressed into panels. The result is a very smooth wood product similar to particle board but stronger and with greater screw-holding power. Advantages and Disadvantages MDF has a number of advantages over other wood panels like plywood and solid wood.
