The University of Melbourne, founded in 1853, is one of the six sandstone universities of Australia, the second oldest university of Australia, and the oldest in Victoria. It comprises 10 main academic departments which span a variety of study options in Architecture, Arts, Business and Economics, Engineering, Information Technology, Fine Arts, Medicine, Dentistry, Science, Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture, Education, and Law.
