The basic functioning of cars majorly depends upon the transmission that allows the gear change. Automated manual transmission (AMT) is a type of manual transmission that comes with an automatic clutch operation and gear shifting mechanism. So, their gearbox is similar to the cars with typical manual transmission, but the gear selector has very few shift options instead of the regular H-pattern options. Also, most such cars come without a clutch pedal as that task is also taken up by the AMT.
