Sclerotherapy is the 'gold standard for reducing spider veins and tiny reticular leg veins. Multiple shots of a sclerosing agent are introduced into the strange red, blue or purple spider veins present in the leg. Injecting the undesired veins with the sclerosing liquid causes the target vein to quickly shrink, and then melt over a week as the body usually absorbs the treated vein.
