A liver transplant surgery is a life-saving procedure done to replace an unhealthy or diseased liver with a healthy one taken from a donor. The doctors can transplant a part of the liver or the whole liver. A donor is generally a person who has just died. In some cases, a part of the liver is taken from a healthy living person too. The living donor can also lead a healthy life with whatever part of the liver is left in them as their liver regenerates to the normal size within a few weeks.
