When Bill Gates made this comment in 1996, that ‘Content is king’ little did he realize that this mantra would be the most relevant lines in the present world of digital marketing. For the digital marketing companies in Kolkata, or for that matter anywhere across the globe this is the most proverbial truth as it was pronounced almost a decade and half back. Now coming back to the crux of the matter, for any product or service brand which is engaged in the business of catching the eyeballs and occupying the mind space of the most receptive and potential customer, this is most sought after theory which the digital marketers are trying to put into practice. To understand this we need to understand why content is as important, as Google being the largest search engine on Earth drives approximately 1 trillion queries every year. Each month there are 409 million people viewing more than 20 billion pages worldwide. Content is the most important part of your brand persona as it helps you to educate the audience about your product or service. A clear-cut understanding first needs to be undertaken and established regarding the target audience. What is the target audience? For that we need to review the marketable brand’s ideology, character and entire product positioning correctly to define the people to whom this is targeted or rather the potential customers. Once that is set, every other aspect falls in line. Content clearly earns its links from other sites. Content generates CTA(Call to Action), which generally means that when people see and read the content and it serves as answers to the queries they have, the next call is given by the marketer to convert it into a conversion from a query. The more relevant and pertinent content that is there in a site, the credibility of that site or page increases manifold. This essentially means that the brand owners are experts in that industry having profound knowledge of the domain and their offerings are to be necessarily taken seriously. Content is the ultimate foundation of every strategy which involves calculated digital marketing outcomes. The context of the content is more important than the content itself as visitors to the site would always stick on with the site if it gives them relevant information and quenches their thirst of the information that they are looking for.
