Proper aftercare is essential to prevent infection following an emergency tooth extraction. Follow your dentist’s instructions, keep the extraction site clean, avoid smoking, straws, and vigorous rinsing for the first 24 hours, and eat soft foods while the area heals. After the first day, gently rinse with warm salt water if advised and maintain good oral hygiene without disturbing the blood clot. Contact your dentist if you develop increasing pain, swelling, fever, pus, or a foul taste, as these may be signs of infection requiring prompt treatment.
