Before purchasing your ePropulsion Spirit 2.0 outboard, we must inform you that ePropulsion’s shaft length guidance is wrong. They recommend the Extra Short Shaft for transoms up to 15.7 inches, but after testing it ourselves, we’ve found it doesn’t work properly on a 15-inch transom. At higher speeds, the propeller sucks in air, causing cavitation and reducing efficiency and performance. That’s why in our experience, most boats should use the Short Shaft or Long Shaft instead. The Extra Short Shaft is really only suited for a small number of unique boat designs with a transom of 14 inches or less. In this video, we explain why ePropulsion’s recommendation is misleading, show you what happened during our testing, and help you choose the correct shaft length for your boat. If you’re unsure which shaft length is right for your boat, we’re happy to help! Feel free to reach out to us directly through our website, and we’ll help you choose the best option for your specific setup.
