A throttle response controller does not actually add horsepower or torque. Instead, it changes how quickly and aggressively the engine computer interprets your pedal inputs. In factory configuration, when you press the pedal 25 percent of the way down, the computer might only open the throttle blade 15 percent, then gradually ramp up to 25 percent over half a second. This “soft ramp” creates the lag you feel. A throttle controller remaps this relationship. In Sport or Race mode, pressing the pedal 25 percent might command the throttle to open 40 or 50 percent instantly, creating an immediate surge of acceleration. In Eco or Economy mode, the opposite occurs: pressing the pedal 50 percent might only command 20 percent throttle opening, smoothing out your driving style to conserve fuel.
