India Introduces New Tariff Rule for Rice Exports From May 1, 2025 India is set to implement a new rice export tariff regime starting May 1, 2025. The revised system classifies rice based on processing method, variety, and Geographical Indication (GI) status. This move aims to enhance global branding and streamline export documentation. Over 20 GI-tagged rice varieties from more than 10 states are expected to benefit, improving product identification and transparency in international markets. Exporters are advised to update their documentation and tariff codes before the deadline.
