K2 Expeditions 2023-24 - Full Board Services - Booking Available.With 8611m, K2 Expeditions is the second highest mountain in the world. As early as 1939 Fritz Wiessner, tried the first ascent and, together with his Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama, reached a height of 8390m. As the Sherpa was afraid of evil spirits and forced Wiessner to turn back (he simply didn´t hand out the rope), this attempt was not successful. The summit was finally reached 15 years later, on July 31, 1954, by the Italians Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli.
