Also known as bearberry, arando, mossberry, and fenberry belong to the family Ericaceae. It is native to northeastern North America. The major active components of this fruit are flavonols, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, catechins, hydroxycinnamic and other phenolic acids, and triterpenoids. It is a powerhouse of powerful antioxidants like quercetin that protect our cells from harmful free radicals. It is a good source of vitamins like thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, vitamin A, C, E, and K, and also contains a good amount of minerals like zinc, potassium, iron, and magnesium.
