Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD) is characterized by dramatic, overly emotional, or overly dramatic behavior and attention-seeking behaviors. People with HPD are often seen as shallow, self-centered, manipulative, and demanding. They may display inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior, express strong emotions with an impressionistic style, and be overly concerned with their physical appearance. Other symptoms include an excessive need for approval, a tendency to overreact to criticism, difficulty expressing disagreement, and a tendency to interpret benign comments as personal insults.
