Depression frequently goes unnoticed, undiagnosed, and unrecognized. The term “concealed depression” refers to someone who has learned how to deal with their inner demons in a way that doesn’t make them noticeable. They might or might not have a diagnosis and might or might not have told even their closest friends about it. The issue is that the world is at its darkest when we all lose the ability to understand one another. Although we tend to think of hardship as being visible on one’s chest like a battle scar, many of these wounds are not readily apparent to those who do not take the time to look.
