Spain will aim to return to the top of the world when they travel to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022. When Spain won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 as part of a three-peat successive European Championship, many hoped they would cement their dominance. But La Roja has fallen slightly since then and has been mediocre in the past two World Cups. However, they showed some positive signs last summer, reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and only losing to eventual champions Italy on penalties. Before the draw, Spain was favoured by some bookmakers, such as England, but their odds dropped slightly.
