Anil Deshmukh steps down, Dilip Walse Patil to be new Home Minister Six-time MLA from NCP Dilip Walse Patil is about to be the new Maharashtra Home Minister after his party colleague Anil Deshmukh resigned from the post on Monday. Maharashtra State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has written to the Governor asking him to simply accept Anil Deshmukh's resignation and appoint Dilip Walse Patil the new minister of home affairs. Deshmukh stepped down after the Bombay supreme court ordered a CBI probe into the corruption allegations leveled against him by former Mumbai commissioner Param Bir Singh. Deshmukh then met Uddhav Thackeray and handed over the letter. In his resignation letter, Deshmukh has stated that he doesn’t find it morally correct to continue because the home minister after the Bombay High Court’s order.
