Getting a mental health diagnosis can be good and it can also keep you stuck. Firstly a mental health diagnosis like generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, Borderline Personality disorder, depression, depersonalization, derealisation are all diagnosis that you may get from your Dr based on the symptom clusters you are getting and the behaviours you are showing. A mental health diagnosis can help you get treatment and the support you need during this difficult time. But with the stigma surrounding mental health diagnosis it can also make you feel shame and guilt and make you become or identify with that mental health diagnosis. It is important that any mental health diagnosis is actually a pattern of dysregulation of of your brain waves and blood flow. This will be different for everyone and not the same for everyone with say anxiety. Once you have your mental health diagnosis it is improtant that you use it to empower yourself to heal your brain. ensure that you search for a practitioner to work with you teach your brain to get well. Never allow a mental health diagnosis to disempower, rely on others to fix you or keep you stuck where you dont want to be, with an unhealthy brain. A mental health diagnosis mean your brain is not healthy and you therefore need to learn how to make it healthy again. You really can heal your brain it just takes time, patience and a want to get well.
