A metallic taste after a dental implant procedure is usually temporary and often linked to normal healing, minor bleeding, medications, or changes in oral bacteria and saliva. In some cases, irritation, inflammation, or infection around the implant site may also contribute to the unusual taste. While the sensation often improves as healing progresses, persistent pain, swelling, bad breath, or a worsening metallic taste should be evaluated by a dentist to rule out complications and protect the long-term success of the implant.
