Sjogren’s syndrome is defined as an autoimmune disease that attacks and destroys glands responsible for keeping the eyes, mouth and other parts of the body moist and lubricated. The prevalence of Sjogren’s syndrome in the global population is unknown, German researchers have estimated that it occurs in about 0.2 percent of the adult population. The study found that women are about 20 times more likely than men to be affected by the condition.
