Before beginning, gather essential supplies: a lens restoration kit (such as 3M, Sylvania, or Meguiar’s), painter’s tape, microfiber towels, a spray bottle with soapy water, and optionally a power drill with sanding discs. Many all-in-one kits cost under $25 and include progressively finer sanding pads and a UV-blocking clear coat. Start by washing the 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 led headlights and taping off surrounding paint to avoid scratches. Most restoration processes follow three stages: wet sanding, polishing, and sealing. Begin with 400–600 grit sandpaper to level the deepest oxidation and stone chips. Work in consistent left-right and up-down motions, keeping the surface wet to prevent deep scratches. Wipe clean and inspect—the lens will look uniformly dull, which is correct at this stage.
