Popularly known as Chinese witch hazel. Witch hazel belongs to the family of Hamamelidaceae. Native to China, Witch hazel is a medium or large plant that produces fragrant flowers in early winter. Its major active components are  gallic acid, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and volatile oils. It also contains potent antioxidants that protect cells from harmful oxidative stress. Since it has many medicinal properties, its root, leaves, and bark are used in making ayurvedic medicine. It also contains components that are good for the skin.
