Cumin is an annual herb that belongs to the family Apiaceae. It is native to Mexico, India, and China. Cumin aldehyde, cymene, and terpenoids are the major active components present in Cumin seeds. Cumin aldehyde and cuminic alcohol are responsible for the aroma of these seeds. It is very nutritious because it is rich in Vitamins like Vitamin A, B6, C, K, E and minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, and phosphorous.
