Arnab Goswami bail plea accepted by Supreme Court- The Supreme Court orders release of Arnab Goswami on interim bail, editor-in-chief of Republic TV, and other co-accused on interim bail. Hearing Arnab Goswami’s bail plea in the Supreme Court, a bench headed by Justice Chandrachud said that Arnab Goswami and two other accused should be released on interim bail on a bond of Rs. 50,000. “If we as a constitutional court do not lay down law and protect liberty, then who will,” the Supreme Court said during the hearing.”The victim is entitled to recourse as in proper and fair probe,” the judges ruled. The Commissioner of Police has been instructed to ensure the order is followed immediately. After the Bombay High Court rejected the bail petition, the matter has reached the country’s highest court.
