Trigger finger is a condition where the tendons in the fingers become inflamed and can't move smoothly through their sheaths, leading to pain, stiffness, and a sensation of locking or catching when bending or straightening the finger. Sometimes, the finger might get stuck in a bent position and need to be straightened manually. Non-surgical treatments often include steroid injections to reduce inflammation. If these aren't effective, a minor surgical procedure can be performed to cut the sheath restricting the tendon, allowing it to move freely again. After surgery, gentle finger movements are encouraged immediately to maintain a good range of motion. For more information or to book an appointment, please visit my website.
