These supercomputers are becoming obsolete and possibly difficult to maintain because to rapid improvements in GPU technologies. Investing in HPC infrastructure, on the other hand, is an expensive proposition for any company. The idea is to make the underlying infrastructure available to everyone on an OPEX basis, allowing businesses to rent HPC computing on demand without having to invest in CAPEX.
