Present Perfect Continuous Tense in English Present perfect continuous tense shows the action that started in the past and has continued until the current instant. Present perfect continuous tense is used to talk about an action that began in the past and stopped recently. There is usually a result now. We also use the present perfect continuous tense to talk about an action that began in the past and is continuing now. This is often used with for or since. We normally use the present perfect continuous tense for: • An action that has just stopped or recently stopped. • An action continuing up to now.
