The national capital of India, New Delhi has always been the favourite city of most us, whether due its vibrant culture and the delicious food. The foundation stone of the city was laid in 1911. The place has rich cultural as well as historical background. The entire country is administered from here. People fondly call it 'Dilwalo ki Delhi' in Hindi meaning place of large-hearted people. Situated on the west bank of river Yamuna, the city is also famous for its bustling marketplaces. Most of the key government institutions including the Supreme Court of India, the Parliament and the Rashtrapati Bhavan are in this city.

The climate of New Delhi is monsoon-influenced humid subtropical and semi-arid. There is significant variation between temperatures in summer, winter and rainy season. The summers are very hot and winters are very cold with the city remaining covered under the fog in mornings and evenings. The place receives moderate rainfall. Therefore, the best time to visit New Delhi is from October to March.

The national capital of India is famous among tourists for several reasons and there are several places in the city one must visit. There are historical places like Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India gate which are the great examples of architectural excellence. Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple and Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple are the religious places. Chandani Chowk is the place where you can do shopping while enjoying the street food. If you are interested in exploring wildlife, then you can visit the National Zoological Park.

If you stay in Delhi and have already explored all of these, there are many outstanding places to visit near New Delhi. These places include naturally beautiful weekend holiday destinations, places with historical significance, religious places and wildlife sanctuaries.
