It all started in the 1970s when researcher Bob Thomas developed a computer software. Bob Thomas constructed a computer softer Creeper with the ability to travel about the ARPANET network, leaving a breadcrumb trail wherever it goes. Ray Tomlinson, the developer of email, also built Reaper, a programme that tracked down and destroyed Creeper. Reaper was the first self-replicating programme, as well as the first computer worm and antivirus software.
