Heated seats typically work by heating coils embedded in the seat. The technology itself is similar to that used in hairdryers and electric blankets. To prevent over-heating, most car seat heaters come with a thermostat that measures the actual temperature in the cushion. Most seat heaters have two settings, high and low, to allow the occupant to control the temperature. Although heated seats are available on several models, heated and cooled seats are gradually appearing. However, there are different technologies being used to create a cooled seat.
